Studio polish can dampen an otherwise electrifying performer, and Phil Collins proves that here with brighter renditions of his best songs, including “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven” and my favorite version of “Don’t Lose My Number.” There are also a couple of fun covers on here, including The Supremes “You Can’t Hurry Love” and a slowed-down rendition of “Groovy Kind of Love,” which still reminds me of my eighth-grade boyfriend all these years later.Īvailable in: CD.
